A graduate of postgraduate studies knows and understands:

• mathematical concepts in the field of statistics
• programming methods and techniques
• rules for designing, creating and managing database systems
• rules on knowledge representation and classification mechanisms
• examples illustrating specific mathematical concepts
• computational techniques and programming techniques to support the analyst’s work
• ways to illustrate symbolic calculations with software packages
• concepts for visualizing data on a computer
• construction and functionality of tools used for remote teaching
• ethical problems and dilemmas characteristic of various professions
• provisions in legal acts regarding the protection of software, databases and personal data
• principles of creating and developing forms of individual entrepreneurship

A graduate of postgraduate studies is able to:

• select the appropriate statistical model for data analysis and implement it in practice using software
• present various examples of discrete and continuous probability distributions and discuss selected random experiments and mathematical models in which these distributions occur; knows the practical applications of basic distributions
• use statistical characteristics of the population
• design and justify the correct operation of the program, taking into account the complexity of the algorithms and write it in a high-level language
• implement the learned algorithms in the field of computer visualization issues
• use properly selected programming environments to design, create, modify and manage databases
• analyze the complexity of structures and databases, propose appropriate procedures, evaluate their correctness and implement them in a selected programming language
• select methods to construct a classification model for a given knowledge base
• use the learned methods and tools of remote learning
• present facts in the field of IT, communicate in a professional environment and in other environments, including in English and using IT tools
• work with recipients of the created IT and analytical solutions, actively participating in the discussion about the needs, possible solutions and rules for obtaining, processing and using data
• discuss on selected achievements of computer science and its applications
• work on team projects that have a long-term character by taking the role of a leader
• work together in a group in different roles
• independently update knowledge and skills in the field of IT and determine the directions of further professional development
• prepare for an interview
• direct others to personal development.

A graduate of postgraduate studies is ready to:

• assess the possibility of using the existing achievements of technology in his profession
• behave in a professional manner, observe the rules of professional ethics and respect the diversity of views
• respecting copyright
• understand the limitations of his own knowledge and skills, understanding the need for further education
• communicate and consult with specialists in his field
• recognize the profession of IT and data analyst as a social role and understands the problems associated with data confidentiality
• formulate and provide the public with information and opinions on the achievements of exact sciences
• think and act in an entrepreneurial way

The condition for applying for admission to postgraduate studies is to have a Polish or foreign higher education diploma in any field entitling to continue education at higher level studies or to apply for a doctoral degree in the country of issue.

Required documents:

• application for admission to studies with a personal questionnaire generated in the irk.uwm.edu.pl system;
• a diploma of completion of higher education, legalized/with an apostille or another document of completion of higher education abroad entitling to undertake postgraduate studies in the country where it was issued. The document must be translated into Polish by a sworn translator or consul;
• photocopy of passport (page with photo).

A candidate for postgraduate studies “Data analysis and engineering” registers in the https://irk.uwm.edu.pl/ system, attaching scans of the required documents. 

The recruitment committee checks the completeness and correctness of the documentation attached at https://irk.uwm.edu.pl/, makes a decision on the qualification of the submitted candidates and prepares a list of qualified persons.

The basis for admission to postgraduate studies is to submit a set of originals of the required documents to the study office:

• application for admission to studies with a personal questionnaire generated in the irk.uwm.edu.pl system;
• two copies of the agreement on the terms and conditions of charging fees for the provided educational services related to postgraduate studies, signed by the candidate;
• a diploma of completion of higher education, legalized/with an apostille or another document of completion of higher education abroad entitling to undertake postgraduate studies in the country where it was issued, together with the translation of the documents into Polish by a sworn translator or consul;
• photocopy of passport (page with photo).

Admission is determined by the order in which applications are submitted in the IRK system.

The deadline for submitting documents is published on the IRK website for postgraduate studies.
